What is the CDA Credential?
The Child Development Associate Credential from the Council for Professional Recognition is a national credential awarded to early childhood educators who meet competency standards in both education and experience. Competency is measured by completing:
- 120 hours of professional education
- 480 hours of professional experience
- A professional portfolio
- Statements of competence
- Family questionnaires

Find CDA Scholarships
The organizations listed here provide financial assistance for individuals who wish to pursue the CDA Credential. If your state is not listed, contact the child care licensing agency in your state or your local resource and referral agency as they are an excellent resource.
